Monthly Meetings

The Calligraphy Guild of Columbus meets on the second Saturdays of September, October, November, January, February, March, April and May, from 9am to noon at the Cultural Arts Center, 139 W. Main Street, 614-645-7047. A demonstration and hands-on-lettering is planned for each meeting. Our December Holiday Party and June Cook Out locations will be announced. The meetings are free and open to the public.

ALL ABILITY LEVELS ARE WELCOME! We have pen, ink and paper to loan you at the meetings to get you going!

March 9 – GET TO THE POINT! Spacing & Text

Putting it all together. Join us at the Cultural Arts Center between 9:00am and noon, as we continue our study of pointed pen.

Carol Kimball and Sandy Mundy will wrap up our lessons on formal script lettering, covering spacing and writing text with the pointed pen.

April 13 – GET TO THE POINT! Making it Hip-Hop

Putting it all together. Join us at the Cultural Arts Center between 9:00am and noon, as we continue our study of pointed pen.

Carol Kimball will demonstrate Informal Script. Learn how to bridge from the formal script lettering to a more fluid informal lettering style using the pointed pen.

Sunday, June 9 – WELCOMING SUMMER PICNIC!

Everyone loves a picnic! Especially when you don’t have to start the grill! Join all of our members and their guests at our traditional finale to our fantastic year of lettering. Besides the food, we always have a fun lettering project to be announced as the event draws nearer. Maybe we will revive the calligraphy version of Jeopardy! Available for purchase will be calligraphy books from Jerry Lawson’s estate. Enjoy chomping and chatting around the picnic tables at Antrim Shelter House in Heritage Park, 60 N. Cleveland Avenue, Westerville. Gathering begins at high noon and goes until 3 o’clock. Come for it all or just drop in for a quick visit. Brats and burgers, paper products and utensils will be supplied by the Guild. Bring your favorite side/dessert to share at a picnic and enjoy!
